Is it Thursday already? This calls for a smoothie of epic proportions. That usually means something chocolaty and yet, ever-so-healthy. Right ‘chere, I’ve got the makings for it. After my morning walk with Amos the lab, Daizy the chihuahua and my amazing daughter, whilst breathing in the slightly crisp Fall air through our masks of course, I listened to the chirp of yellow finches in trees and watched the awkward roadrunner dart across our path. I relished the turquoise New Mexico sky I’ve grown up under and the southwestern character I love.
Embrace your life, every minute of it as it is precious and fleeting. Don’t waste a second. If you can muster these ingredients by way of your own pantry or a trip to the nearest market, take this in and make your day healthy, peaceful and your own.

Mousse au Chocolove Smoothie
1 large avocado ( My life’s staple for her rich, smooth consistency and powerhouse health benefits.)
1 medjool date (makes her a little sweet in a healthy way)
1 generous tablespoon of raw cacao powder (super food with antioxidants and robust color)
1/8 teaspoon vanilla extra
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon (another superfood that adds New Mexico sunset to the mix and that Fall experience with her scent.)
1/4 cup coconut water (for her electrolytes)
Pinch of salt. (who knows what this really means. Make it your own!)
1 teaspoon mesquite powder (Now, this is what makes this smoothie gorgeous. Mesquite is the scent of the woods, rich with vitamins and minerals, including calcium, fiber, protein, and amino acids
1 teaspoon carob powder (optional, as everything up to this has created a masterpiece.)
Now find a place where the sun softly grazes your face and the breeze fills your lungs. Maybe you have a cat to snuggle with (I have three!) whose purring will regulate your heart beat and fill you with love. And carry on with this day, make it your own, be well and see you soon.
